Ratner wants to make a Guitar Hero movie
Potential “God of War” movie maker Brett Ratner has revealed that he would really like to create a Guitar Hero movie. However he doubts that Activision would let him as the game franchise is so cool. Although if it went ahead, he has an idea of it becoming one of those dreams come true kind of concepts as a kid makes it into a rock star.

More evidence for PS3 controller support on the PSP 3000
A short while ago, a tipster notified us that the PSP 3000 will support the PS3 controller. Now, some folks from the MaxConsole forums have added further weight to this. At Playstation.com the PSP 3000 release says it has a USB connector not a Mini B like previous specifications. In addition to this, Sony did file a patent back in 2007 for dual shock compatibility with the PSP (here). Continue discussion here.

Insider says 160GB will not be backwards compatible, so grab MGS systems
The same Best Buy insider has today tipped us off that the 160GB PS3 will not be backwasrds compatible with PS2 games, so you'd better snap up the metal gear systems as its likely they will be the last version to play PS2 games. Again, this should treated as a rumor until more proof surfaces or it is confirmed.

Insider says PSP 3000 will be able to play games with PS3 controller
A Best Buy insider has tipped us off to say that the new PSP 3000's will include the ability to play games on the PSP using a PS3 controller. And you will also be to use composite cables (480i) to play games on the TV instead of requiring a component 480p. This should be treated as a rumor until confirmed.

ESA says it's great that pirates are behind bars for lengthy periods
The Entertainment Software Association today applauded the recent sentencings of two convicted pirates to significant prison time. These rulings send a clear message that intellectual property theft and game piracy are serious offenses. On August 20, 2008, U.S. District Judge Frank D. Whitney in the Western District of North Carolina sentenced Kevin Fuchs of West Amherst, NY, to eight months in prison, to be followed by eight months of home confinement during two years of court supervision.
Sony CEO: PS3 games making more money than hardware losses, Wii business is superior
Speaking to German paper Die Welt, the CEO of Sony admitted that the Wii may be a superior business model to the PS3. Essentially, the major difference is that Nintendo makes money with the hardware alone unlike Sony. He added that PS3 games are making more money than Sony is losing on hardware sales and doubted an upcoming PS3 price cut this year.

Gears of War 2 achievementes uploaded, Microsoft demand they go down
As you may be aware, achievements for the upcoming Gears of War 2 have been leaked online. This seems to have hacked off Microsoft who are demanding that websites take them back down. Not only does this confirm that MS are angered by the leak but also the listed achievements are indeed real.

PS3 targeted in Blu-ray law suit
Video game companies are certainly no stranger to law suits, and now it's Sony's turn. A company is alleging that Sony has infringed on a patent which relates to a method for recording and producing information via optical disc. The PS3 is included in this suit.

EA: Second hand game sales are a critical situation
Electronic Arts is reportedly trying new business models in order to combat the problem of second hand videogame sales. Unlike retailers, publishers do not reap any kind of financial benefits when the same product is sold multiple times and EA wants to regain some benefit with online content and services.
New Warhammer 40k project for PS3 and Xbox 360
A job listing has gone up which advertises a distinct number of positions for a new game based on the popular Warhammer 40,000 universe. The advert states that the company is seeking "videogame development talent across all disciplines to work on an action game for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 based on the popular Warhammer 40,000 universe from Games Workshop." It doesn't get much more clear than that...

EA: No computer magic in Tiger Walks on Water video
EA recently addressed a glitch someone found in the Tiger Woods golf gamer by showing Tiger Woods make a perfect shot from the water. An EA spokesperson commented on the video response by saying that "there was no computer magic in getting it done – just some production magic. Tiger did hit that shot himself though. We saw this as a fun way to address a glitch someone found in our game."

Endwar VIP multiplayer demo is an Xbox 360 exclusive
Ubisoft appears to be giving away access codes for the multiplayer VIP demo of Tom Clancy's Endwar, but this is only to Xbox 360 owners who pre-order at UK retailer GameStation.

Guitar Hero does not need Warner Music
Michael Patcher has hit out at Warner, saying they are wrong when they remark that gamers buy Guitar Hero for the song. Patcher asserts you buy Guitar Hero for the game and the song creates the challenge. This is in contrast to an iTunes download in which you buy a track just to listen to music.
